National Night Out 2026

National Night Out: Tuesday, August 4, 2026

National Night Out was originally established as an event in the 1980’s to build and strengthen stronger police-community relationships between local communities and law enforcement and heighten crime prevention awareness in the United States. In the early 1990's, the Lower Allen Township Police Department worked with many neighborhoods to organize crime watch groups. On the first Tuesday in August each year, these groups hosted block parties in conjunction with National Night Out to build better relationships with neighbors, while working together to address crime and other police-related issues. We are seeking assistance from communities throughout Lower Allen Township to help take this event back to its roots.

To date, three communities in Lower Allen Township are planning events in their neighborhood: Orchard Apartments on Cedar Run Drive (4-6 PM), Highland Park at the playground on Chatham Road (6-8 PM), and Cressman Manor on Morningside Drive (6-8 PM). Police, EMS, and the Division of Fire Rescue Services (DFRS) will support these local efforts by sending staff and volunteers to these communities to visit with residents.

A small event will also be held at the Lower Allen Township Municipal Services Center (MSC), located at 2233 Gettysburg Road, Camp Hill on Tuesday, August 4, from 6-8 PM. Residents who do not have an event planned in their surrounding neighborhood community are encouraged to stop by the event at the MSC.
