Trash & Recycling Collection

Penn Waste Disposal provides curbside collection of trash, recycling, bulk items, and yard waste. Penn Waste Collection days are Mondays through Fridays. Please refer to the Township Collection Map for more information. Lower Allen Township is a mandated community, according to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and must recycle.

Penn Waste collects one (1) wheeled cart for Trash per property and (1) wheeled cart for Recycling per property each week. All trash and recycling must be inside the wheeled carts for collection. Any material that falls out of the wheeled carts during collection is the responsibility of the property owner to dispose of properly.

Penn Waste will pick up one (1) bulk item per week. Bulk items include furniture and appliances. To request a bulk item pick up, please contact Penn Waste at (717) 767-4456. Electronics and additional bags of trash are not bulk items and will not be collected curbside. To dispose of these items, please see the links to the left for more information.

Holiday collection is established by the hauler. Please refer to the Penn Waste collection calendar for more information.

Recycling

Lower Allen Township is a mandated municipality. The Township is required to provide recycling containers to all residents within the municipality. More information can be found at Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection webpage.

Acceptable Items:

  • Cans – both aluminum and steel
  • Plastic bottles and jugs with numbers 1, 2, & 5
  • Newspaper – clean and dry without food contact
  • Glass – both bottles and jars
  • Corrugated cardboard – dry and flat without food contact
  • Cartons
Corrugated Cardboard disposal drop locations are located in the Township for excess corrugated cardboard disposal. The first drop location is at Lower Allen Community Park (LACP). The dumpster is located in the first parking lot on the left when you enter the park.

Paperboard recycling drop locations are in the Township for the convenience of residents. Examples of paperboards are cereal/cracker boxes, soda boxes, frozen foods, soap boxes, etc. Newspapers can also be placed in this drop location.
