Yard Waste & Bulk Items
Yard Waste
From March through October, yard waste is collected on a regular basis by our contracted trash hauler. To have your yard waste collected, you can place your yard waste in one of the Township’s yellow yard waste bins and place it curbside on your regularly schedule trash pick up day. Once the yard waste is collected by the contracted trash hauler, it is then taken to the Public Works Facility where the Township has a 1.4 acre pad that was constructed through grants obtained through Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection allows for the staging and processing of yard waste material. Once a large enough pile of natural material is collected, the Township rents a large grinder to process the material to turn it into wood chips. If you have additional yard waste that exceeds what can be placed in the yellow yard waste bins, you can drop off up to four (4) truck loads of excess material per year to the Public Works Facility, with additional loads requiring a $25.00 fee per load.
Acceptable items that can be collected are shrubs and shrubbery trimmings, tree trimmings no larger than 14 inches in diameter and no longer than 6 feet in length, Christmas trees (tinsel, lights, ornaments, and bases removed), and leaves.
Please do NOT put grass clippings in the yard waste containers as this material can clog the grinding equipment and does not decompose well in the mulch product that is created from the yard waste. Grass clippings must be placed in with your regular trash. Additionally, it is extremely important for the process material to not have trash or other unapproved items in it as this can cause damage to the equipment or cause injury to the Public Works staff. Additional materials that are NOT accepted include:- Bamboo
- Ashes
- Stumps
- Sod, dirt
- Stones, bricks, concrete
- Construction debris or furniture
- Painted or treated wood, railroad ties, landscaping timbers
- Garbage
- Food compost
