About the Position
Reporting directly to the Township Manager, the Human Resources Director serves as the Township's primary Human Resources professional and is responsible for a broad range of human resources, employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment, policy management, compliance, training, and employee engagement activities. The position requires sound judgment, exceptional confidentiality, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with employees, Department Heads, Directors, elected officials, and external partners.
This is an exempt, administrative position primarily located at the Township's Municipal Services Center.

Key Responsibilities
The Human Resources Director will:
- Administer employee benefit programs, enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Lead recruitment efforts, candidate tracking, onboarding, and background investigations.
- Provide guidance to employees and management on personnel policies, benefits, and workplace matters.
- Administer FMLA, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, ACA reporting, and related compliance programs.
- Develop, maintain, and recommend updates to personnel policies and administrative procedures.
- Assist in preparation and management of the Human Resources budget.
- Coordinate employee training initiatives and maintain training records.
- Manage employee recognition programs, engagement activities, and retention efforts.
- Process pension and 457(b) retirement plan enrollments and contribution changes.
- Maintain personnel records and ensure compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
- Serve on various Township committees and boards, including the Safety, Pension, Finance, and Employee Engagement Committees.
- Attend Board of Commissioners evening meetings and other meetings as required.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred. or a related field preferred.
- Three to five years of human resources experience with knowledge of general Human Resources practices required.
- Public sector or municipal government experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise independent judgment.
- Proficiency with HR and business software systems.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with individuals at all levels of the organization.
